And I'm always craving for this kind of images.

Did you painted with light?

Excellent image.

Thank you, Protacio. Yes, it's a long exposure with the light "painted" with a small mag flash light. The idea is not mine, I copied the idea from a different photog. #986964

Protacio Serna December 19, 2004

You did great!

About the pattern you draw...is it a profile?

I can see a nose and perhaps the fork is in the mouth...am I right?

I got a D100 and when I do long exposures I need to turn on noise reduction feature in my camera. That process takes a long time. How does the D70 handles that?

Thanks

Looks like a winner! Great image! #990791

Ursula I. Abresch December 22, 2004

Thank you Paula!

@Protacio, the profile is not intentional, I was simply trying to make a curvy pattern. Sometimes you luck out :)

The D70 is fairly slow with long-exposures with NR turned on, but it's very quick otherwise. I think getting better CF would help. It doesn't bother me much because these long exposures are set up for the most part anyway, and speed is not important for that (at least not to me).

Congrats again on this striking photo making the finals at BP Ursula!

I use a a D100. I turned off the NR setting in the camera and use a Kodak plug-in called DigiGem Pro for noise reduction instead. The shooting is much faster and the results are much better than in-camera noise reduction. #1041839

For Protacio,
If no one else has told you how to solve the noise reduction problem on long exposures, here's how. I had the same problem. For digital cameras, increase the ISO to a higher number, say 400 or higher. #1061224
