The Road to ?
Uploaded: November 04, 2004
Resubmit - I had so much response, mostly telling me to take off down the road. So I had an adventure and did one day!
Orginal Caption: "I've lived in this area for almost 3 years now, and drove past this side road every day for almost a year when I was working (I'm now a stay at home mom), and have always wondered where it goes, since you can see the road disappear over the hill. It almost looks like the edge of the world, like you'll fall off if you go over it. I stopped and took this picture on my way home the other day. I thought the way the shadows fell, and the darkness of the sky to the north was very striking "

Karolyn, this is beautiful! Someday you'll have to journey to the end (?) and see where the mystery takes you! :) #185446Karolyn R. Moltzan November 04, 2004
Thank you Barbara! My husband and I have talked about just taking off down the road some day, but it seems we're always in a hurry to get somewhere (such is life, isn't it?). But perhaps we'll take a "Sunday Cruise" and see what lies over the hill (and I'll be sure to have my camera with)! Thank you for your comments! I appreciate feedback! #890393Stan Kwasniowski November 04, 2004
Karolyn, very beautiful photo, as for where the road leads too, and you have not discovered it in 3 years, hey get in your car this week end, take the children, husband and go "down the road", When our children were small we use to call these kind of trips, "mystery trip" went down the road and waited to discover what was thereStan Kwasniowski #890427

Thank you all for your comments! I'm planning to adventure down the road this weekend after hearing all the encouragement! #890489Gordon B. Keyes November 04, 2004
Striking is right! I felt the dip in the road immediately. It's very moody the way the foreground is so illuminated and the distance looks like very rough weather. What's that thing in center, at the horizon? Nice capture.Gordon #890667

Stunning! Great job with contrast, color and texture. The timing on the lighting is excellent. I really want to follow the road. #890699Karolyn R. Moltzan November 04, 2004
Thank you again for your comments, Gordon and Eric! Gordon, the thing in the center of the horizon is actually just one lone tree - I know it's hard to see after I reduced the size to put on the web, but in the original you can make it out much better. #890998Gordon B. Keyes November 05, 2004
Thanks, Karolyn, for answering my question. Next one is: What's over that horizon? I think a neat picture would have that tree in the near foreground, to the side, and the mystery revealed or continued. Just a thought. Thanks for the great photo!Gordon #891209

Thank you for the suggestion! After you asked about the tree I had the same thought about the next photo. I'd like to go see what's over the horizon this weekend, so when I get the next picture, I'll let everyone know! Thank you all for your interest! #891660Karolyn R. Moltzan November 06, 2004
I went down the road! Not much to see, once over the hill, but I did capture the one tree standing alone at sunset - I just submitted it, called "One Lone Tree".
