Description

(Beyond the Surface)

(Second Place May 2008)

This is an inspiration about my colleague who is from South Korea. He inspired me for he is the most humble and most non judgemental gentleman I have met. He always say, we must go beyond what we see about people, things and events in our lives. I used a USM IS 17-55 mm f2.8. ISO 100 1/260 f2.8

Exif: F Number: 2.8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/125 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 35.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi

Excellent job Jeffrey!! You are really good at taking portraits. Love the lighting, tones and clarity in your image. Wonderful expression and pose. Your image has alot of texture which I really like. Wow!! Where my first words when I saw this image. I really like how the edges are darken. Did you do that or is that how you took the shot, very cool. Did you enter into a contest, you should!! #5764164

Nothing to critique here. Wonderful portrait. The pose, lighting and background are perfect and really convey the sense of this man even without your description of him.

Greetings Jeffrey! Once again you take us to a higher level both photographically and spiritually. Your work grasps and holds my attention as I ponder the deeper meanings beyond the mere pixels.
Your model's gaze gently challenges us to become part of the image. Perhaps his outstretched finger is inviting us to sit beside him and discuss this philosophy of "going beyond what we see". Or perhaps he is pointing at the empty space beyond the line in the sidewalk and telling us that this represents thought that has not yet been freed to explore the deeper meaning of life.
And this Jeffrey is why I do so like and admire your work. As I sip my Earl Grey tea on a grey winter afternoon I can sit back and let thought go where it may.
Warm regards, Pete #6888289
