Proud To Be A Native American

Uploaded: October 06, 2004

Description

This young man was one of the many thousands of American Indians walking in the procession for the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, 9/21/04. It was a proud day for all of us, and so many faces were beaming their joy of the occasion, but there were many, like this one, who seemed to also convey the overwhelming sadness of the tragedies that befell the American Indian Nations over the course of our nation's history (and still does, sadly).

Thanks, Sharon. And, it WAS something to see! It was the largest gathering of the American Indian Nations in recorded history! It was a very emotional day for me since I am 1/8 Cherokee, and a very proud day, too. I wish all Americans could have experienced it first hand. But, even for those who didn't, please DO try to get to DC to see the museum. Thanks again, and Happy Shooting! Jay #828098
