Norman, I really love this shot! The technique you used really works for this. Very cool! :o) #831633

Thanks Amy for the very nice comment!

The composition of the image is straight from the card so I didnt have to crop. Since I shoot Raw, I do most of my color editing in 16 bit mode and then convert to 8 bit.

Duplicating the image, I then used the dry brush filter on one and the plastic filter on the other, blending the two in screen mode.

Then using noise > median, I softned and blurred the image some to merge the features and then used a curves layer adjustment to darken the darker areas and brighten the light areas.

Around this time everything became a blur and when I woke up, I was staring at this image. (big smile)

Now that was probably way more than you wanted or even needed to know, but it was a big help to me because most times I forget what the heck I did to get my images to look the way they do.

Thanks again Amy for checking out my work and I hope you got a chuckle reading this.

Hey Norm - Thanks for the details! I love experimenting, so I will have to give this technique (or a variant) a try! LOL I can't tell you how many times I've stayed up until 3 am working on projects for fun. Like you, I forget what I even did by the time I'm done! Anyway, great photo and composition! :o) #5349845
