Description

This little locust type flying bug was taking a rest at curbside just a little after noon time. They're very common in TX. They make lots of noise & eventually shed their shell.

What did you do this poor fella, Jane?
..must have had too much wine.
You have great humor.

btw, these cicadas (formal name) are short-lived after they emerge on earth one summer evening after 17 years of underground life, and then mate and lay eggs to complete their life cycle. #766494

HI Nobi..he was very much alive becausse after lying there for a few minutes, just enough time to let me photograph him, he started fluttering his wings. If you look close, it seems like he is in the process of shedding his shell. Thanks for the info..I will look him up :-)... LOL, you're funny! Thanks for looking :-) #4956556

I vote on the too much wine Jane. If you only have a short time to live you might as well enjoy. #4956579

Thank You Robert & Joerg :-)
The yellow background is the painted curb that I found him on. Yes, they are loud when they start "buzzing"! Thanks for taking the time to comment :-) #4968714

Hey Jane
Cute shot, great shadow and the contrast because of the yellow curb works really well. Nice detail.
