Really nice scene , love the softness of the flowers against the brick buildings . I see you got some editors picks , YAHOO !! #707288

Thanks Joan. I took this during the same sunset as all the daylilies here. I found it in the camera tonight when I was deleting pictures out of it and decided I liked it.

Yeah- those editor's picks! WOO HOO for sure! I feel so smug with my little point and shoot camera.... : )

BUT, a couple of days ago, I ordered a Canon digital Rebel XTi camera with an 18-55 lens and a 70-300 lens. Yikes- like I can afford it- but I am on serious fire with digital photography! I just hope I can learn how to use the damn thing. That web page you sent me on DOF was BEYOND daunting! #4606290

P.S. Yesterday I was taking a walk in the woods with Muffin and came upon a garter snake eating a toad- and didn't have my camera! It was something else. Going past it the first time, it had one leg up to the toad's hip in its mouth and the toad was trying to hop away. 20 minutes later, I passed it again, and it had both legs in its mouth, up to the hip. I knew then the toad would lose. It was hard to see. Of course Muffin was fascinated....

If I'd had my camera I would have shot it, gruesome as it was. God, Nature is intense... I have toads living here and they come out on warm nights. I like them and hate to think of anything bad happening to them... #4606304

Just a beautiful shot Ellen. Keep up the good work. #4613933

Thanks, Eloise. Glad I didn't delete it. I saw it with "fresh eyes" and realized I could crop it. Here's how the original looked. #4614201

What a difference a second look and a little tweeking makes. Good eye. #4614227

Ellen Powell August 07, 2007

Thanks. I cropped it to have a little of the old mill in it, but to me it's too bright for the rest of the picture, and the lack of focus is a problem. Do you concur? #4614267

Eloise Bartell level-deluxe August 07, 2007

The brightness of the mill does seem to take away from the lilies. #4614498

Well that juxtaposition's just a position. Sorry, couldn't help it.. :)
