I like the motive. I often shoot something similar. I think that the resoult would have been better if you used more 'dept sharpnes' (I don't know if that's the english word for it). What I meen a higher 'f' number ie. f:32. It would give a better of the sidewalk continues. I perfere B/W pictures, but the collors are great in this photo.

Great shot

Excellent shot, Denise - I like the texture and colour. I can see what Thomas is saying though. Unless of course a shallow dof is what you were going for. Good work!!! #225468

To me this picture represents diversity. It looks great with all the different colors mixed together. I like how it gets blurry towards the top of the picture when you look at the bigger version of it. It makes it more interesting. #388343

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your comments. Yes, the shallow depth of field was something I was going for here. I often find myself attracted to photos where there is one point in sharp focus, and the rest goes a bit blurry. Especially in a photo like this of a brick sidewalk - the subject matter can be quite boring if you don't try to "see" it in a different way. #388481

Denise, I agree with you on this...if you had shown the whole sidewalk in focus, it would have just been a nice shot of a sidewalk. The focus on a shot like this is EVERYTHING!! Just my opinion. #405796

I really like this shot! I love to take pics from ground level. Very nice. #630536

It's amazing how a simple subject properly composed can stand out so well. Perhaps a little more depth of field as mentioned above would help but the "blur" is still needed for a "fade-out" effect. Nice colorful shot #634754
