Heeehaaa :-)) I'm really, really satisfied today. Thank you Donna, Dale Ann and Mette. And a very special hug to my lovely daughter Astrid (the model). She's eleven years of age, - and the title is in fact "Eleven" - misspelled ("Eleven" in Norwegian is "Elleve" - that's where the double "l" came from). #549913

Andre Marhaug May 19, 2004

Catherine E. Bono May 27, 2004

Andre, this photo is absolutely stunning and I'm dying to know how you did it (am I alowed to ask?). Mostly those colors, really. Since beginning to shoot digitally only a couple months ago, I've been somewhat lost without my favorite films and tricks. How did you achieve that porcelain skin and firey hair; my experiences with photoshop have left me with very different results. Or am I just being naive for that's her true angelic tone?... Please tell me everything! #563091

Andre Marhaug May 29, 2004

Thank you sooo much, Catherine and Adam.

Catherine: Of course it's alowed to ask!. I know very well the phase you are describing in your "photo life", where the ideas don't unfold in the direction you want because of lack of experience with new tools.

I've just converted to digital photo myself, after a phase where I was "semi digital": I.e. analog photography and then scanning and then making the final corrections in PhotoShop (in fact, I use PaintShopPro).

So, to the photo: The trick is to use correction layers and double layers in PhotoShop. The double layers is the sharp original photo, and a blured copy (opacity around 40%). This is the basic trick to achive both soft skin and razor sharp eyes in the same image. The colors are strengthend to the max in a correction layer, and then I've sprayed the actual layer (with black) so that the extended saturation just hits the hair.

I hope this short brief help you further, Catherine.

Best regards, André. #565580

This is such an amazing shot, Andre. You've really captured it perfectly and the effects you've added put this one over the edge! Wonderful! #578354

Andre Marhaug June 05, 2004

Thank you, Sherri. It's an honour to receive such a nice comment from you. I've been looking through your DeLuxe site, and can understand that you can relate to my playful style: Your pictures are outstanding!. I especially like the red mouth kissing the frog... :-)

Best regards, André #578670
