A truly inspired photograph. So surreal it almost looks like an oil-painting. I am curious about one thing, you mention that you used f/8.0, what exactly does that effect? I am curious because by default all my photos seem to have been taken with f/2.8 setting. #486312

Jonathan, the F stop represents the aperature of the lens, the amount of light it lets in, and affects the depth of field. Based on the shutter speed, 1/160th, which is on the slow end compared to 1/500 or 1/1000 or 1/2000th and higher, the light conditions called for f8 in this situation. If he had used 2.8, which is a wider opening, letting in more light, he would have had to use a faster shutter speed to compensate for the increased amount of light entering the camera.

Not sure if I should have answered this, as it's not my photo, but I didn't think it would hurt.

You may notice in your situation, the background, or foreground isn't always in the sharpest focus with a 2.8 setting. Or, you may like it. It depends on the effect you are trying to achive. Hope this helps.
