Hmm, it didn't seem as sharp as the original after I uploaded it the first time, so I deleted and did it again - but it's still doesn't look sharp enough - what the heck? #479294

I have the same problem. I'm not sure why that is, but I've found that if you keep the uploaded file size to around 640 x 480 pixels it helps. Jeff #2997238

It looks realxing! Resize your images Goshka and that should help a lot! BP has some guidelines for image sizes on the site. Jeff #2997251

Thanks, Jeff, that may be the reason since my files are usually bigger than that.

And it looks like I split my own thread - here's a comment from Karen Bacon:
Talk about a laid back crowd! This is really cute Goshka!

Goshka, when necessary, I use smart sharpen on my resized images, knowing that when it reaches BP images lose their edge, so to speak. I try out images before submitting them, as well.

As for this image...a day in the park...take a look at Georges Seurat..the pointallist, he did a magnificent painting of a day in the park.

Yours is very good...love the two children sort of discussing things! #2997569

:-) This really made me smile #2997592

Sweet image, Goshka! How odd that the little ones are standing and the big ones are flaked out.

Yes, it's soft, unfortunately. When uploading to BP, I use the old method, resize to 480 pixels on the short side letting the other fall where it may, save in TIFF, resharpen just a skritch, resave in TIFF and finally upload. My images are OK; the only soft ones remaining in my gallery are images where I skipped resharpening at the end. I've programmed an action in Photoshop which does all this automatically. #2997695

Lovely image indeed Goshka!!!
I don't resize any of my images and they are all big!!!! Dunno if they should look better when I upload them. They seem the same for me. #2997712

Your technical concerns aside, it's still a WONDERFUL shot, Goshka!! You've captured the feel of a sunny summer day in the park beautifully! #2997810

I always save them to the 500 pixel minimum constraint. Then, I sharpen yet again. Then I upload that version. Then, I check it via BP before I publically display it. I personally think the upload process fuzzes them, but it's not everytime. That's why I do one final sharpen before upload. #2997822

Great image and title, Goshka! I think we have all had problems occasionally when we download! I put it down to bad luck! #2997900

Great shot and title, Goshka! #2998025

Cute capture of the kiddie couple, Goshka, and perfect title, too.

I agree with Melissa ~ this is reminiscent of Seurat's beautiful painting. (Stephen Sondheim made a musical about it: "Sunday in the Park with George" --- great songs! Hmmm... not the kind of information you were asking for...)

Beautiful summer image, Goshka! I love the two little vertical kids engrossed in one another and the relaxed horizontal adults lazing all over the beautiful green lawn. Lovely!

Enjoyed everyone's chat about sizing and uploading here at BP. Sometimes some of mine seem soft even though I do the same post work most of the time. Shoot full frame, size to 750 x 500, USM and upload. I don't know why some are soft at times, but it's happened to me, too. #3014057

Sounds like most of us have had the same problem at times.
I LOVE your title for this charming image Goshka - the little one's really
make the shot! :) #3019312
