Description

This is a mural taken at Homosassa Springs today. Justin had the idea to pretend he was swimming, and the sunglasses look similar to goggles!

Critiques anyone? I am practicing with the new camera and today was the 2nd day I have really been out with it except for at sunset time. #474067

Kay Beausoleil June 29, 2006

LOL! Very succesful composition, Carol, and you're lucky to have such a patient model. Love the colours and the design! #2965213

Carol Teal June 29, 2006

Thank you Kay. I will relay the message to my handsome model! However, sometimes I think he is lucky to have such a patient photographer mom, expecially when he wants me to shoot many photos of him in multiple poses (of his own choice of course)! :D #2967164

Mike Rubin June 29, 2006

Nice composition and great idea that Justin had. Soon we will be looking at his images when he manages to get the camera away from you! #2968251

Carol Teal June 29, 2006

Thank you Mike, for your nice comment, and I will also tell Justin that is idea was a good one! He has taken over my Coolpix now and shooting photos and wants a gallery on BP too. I will be setting him up with one soon. :) Not sure how his photos are coming along; of course he doesn't want to hear my suggestions or tips! Guess that is common for 10 year-olds! #2968345

Mike Rubin June 30, 2006

Tell him if he wants a gallery he better be ready for plenty of comments, suggestions and tips and praise. #2968937

Roger Fry July 05, 2006

Photo is a good idea - composition by the photographer excellent!

Sharon C. Hinze July 05, 2006

Jolly good fun Carol...only thing I might consider changing would be the shadow in the lower right half...once seen it pulls the eye. Hope this helps. Love the image and the idea. S #2988380

Carol Teal July 06, 2006

Thank you so much Roger for your kind words.

Thanks Sharon for taking a look and for your nice comment. Also, I never noticed the fish shadow until you told me so I will see about cloning it out. Wouldn't be hard to do. #2992168

Nadia Paul July 07, 2006

Kenneth Mucke July 25, 2006

Very kool capture Carol...very well done #3075579

Carol Teal July 25, 2006

Thank you so much Kenneth! I like Justin's idea, and I just noticed the other day how well his camouflage shorts blend in with the water! Someone is an excellent artist; you should see the rest of the murals there. They were incredible! #3076639

Ann Kittelsen July 25, 2006

This is a great shot, he had a great idea and you captured it wonderfully, I love it. Such vivid colors!
I know what you mean about suggestions to a 10 year old, I have an 11 year old I mentor and she loves getting behind the camera and clicking away but doesn't want those suggestions. They are very creative though so we might as well let them go and learn, see what they come up with. :) Great work! #3077774

Carol Teal July 25, 2006

Thank you so much Ann! I appreciate your comment! Justin has started a gallery here, but we have to get some more photos uploaded. It's a good start, but I doubt if he keeps it up long at this age, but maybe he will come back to it later. I would like for him to get a hobby like this for his teen years. :) #3078235

Suzy Betancourt August 09, 2006

WOW, nothing to CC here!
Great colors and clarity and such an original shot. I am sure this will be a good photo to print like a 5x7 to display around the house. The camera and photographer are working great together.

Thank you so much Bill; we were pleasantly surprised and feel honored to be chosen by BP for POTD! Justin says he wants to be a lawyer, but he may be like me, dabble in alot of different things that he enjoys, while doing one full-time. :) #3269422

Gosh, I am so behind on here! I didn't realize how long I haven't been on! Thanks so much Teresa for your kind comment and Justin says thanks too! :)

And Chris, thank you so much for your kind words. Justin's idea worked out very well. I took many more where he wasn't swimming and some where he was but without the sunglasses, and this one was the best of the bunch. The murals there were so beautiful too! This is just a small area of the painted walls; there were more fish and even a couple of huge manatees! #3337557

Congratulations on the finalist and photo of the day. Happy new year. My wife wants to know who is the baby in your mini pic? and how about a trip to Tarpon Springs in the weekend? #3769764

Carol Teal January 01, 2007

Thanks Nemil for your comment! The baby is me! This was taken when I was 1 year old and the photographer wanted to use the picture for advertising so she made a deal to give it to my mother after a year if she could use it. Mom said ok (I am sure it was expensive to buy in those days) so the photographer put it in her studio window with the caption "Phooey on photographers!" I scanned the original which is a 16x20 and decided to use it for my mini-pic! Sounds like a good idea to go to Tarpon Springs. I will email you about it. Happy New Year to you and your wife too! #3769800

LOVE the set-up for this shot...you and your son are a clever pair!!! I especially love that this is something that you can do together...it will be a wonderful way to forge your relationship thru the tough teen years! #4182146

Carol Teal April 18, 2007

Vicki, I want to thank you so much for your kind comment! I am half looking forward to and half dreading those teen years, so you are right about having something to keep us together during those times. I gave Justin my old camera too, and he uses it sometimes for a week or so and then stops and starts again. Maybe he will even have his own photography to work on during those times. He might could take photos for the year book or school news! #4184078

Tori A. Woods April 22, 2007

North Florida, about 32 miles from the Georgia/Florida line.... #4198034

Carol Teal April 22, 2007

That sounds about like Havana area. I lived in Coonbottom outside of Tally for several years. Used to ride my horse over to Mule Day in Calvary, GA each November. It was really close to the GA line there, but farther if I traveled to Bainbridge. We may come back that way in a few years. I miss it. I love St Marks and Wakulla and Dog Lake (if you have heard of it). Email me if you would like and we can chat a bit! #4198104
