Arizona Dust Storm
Uploaded: June 06, 2006
Just stopped the car and shot this approaching monster of a dust storm on auto (landscape) with my Canon EF 10-22. These kinds of storms come often in the Phoenix/Tucson area. It is part of our monsoon season; however, with the rapid construction going on in Arizona there is an abundance of loose topsoil - what a monster.

What a great shot Randy, Im glad we dont have them here, you captured this so well ,hope you didnt get caught in it and if you did how long do they last for? #2862522randy dannheim June 07, 2006
Thanks Margaret, thanks Tony. This didn't last more than a 1/2 hour. These are usually caused by a storm collapsing so they are short lived. #2864706Shawn Jennings June 24, 2006
Great capture Randy! I am from Arizona, but moved away several years ago because of work. One of the things I miss most are the monsoon storms like this one. As a child I would watch them coming over South Mountain anticipating the impact when it reached our home.
