Arizona Dust Storm

Uploaded: June 06, 2006

Description

Just stopped the car and shot this approaching monster of a dust storm on auto (landscape) with my Canon EF 10-22. These kinds of storms come often in the Phoenix/Tucson area. It is part of our monsoon season; however, with the rapid construction going on in Arizona there is an abundance of loose topsoil - what a monster.

I heard it on the news over here as well. As I said before, well done, good to hear you're out of it safe. #2863382

Thanks Margaret, thanks Tony. This didn't last more than a 1/2 hour. These are usually caused by a storm collapsing so they are short lived. #2864706

Great capture Randy! I am from Arizona, but moved away several years ago because of work. One of the things I miss most are the monsoon storms like this one. As a child I would watch them coming over South Mountain anticipating the impact when it reached our home. Thanks for the reminder! #2944659
