Used to have one of those a long time ago. Beautiful resolution, but I gotta tell you, in a digital world, it has become a whole lot easier with a lot more options. Having said that though, there are different tools for different sets of circumstances and situations, and even though it seems that film and especially these large format cameras are fading into the background, there's still a time and place for all the previous tools of the trade to shine, in their own light, as long as there are opportunities, and people with cameras to meet them. Ok - that was my philosophical speech for the day ... :-)

You're so right about the old school cameras. Although digital is taking the world by storm, there are still (and I think always will be), certain opportunistic shots where old school will rule. #437604

Awesome idea for a self portrait, Mike!! Really like this! As for the large format camera, oh how I wanted one back then. Never had one - just a Canon AE-1. Kind of miss it now, although I doubt if I would want to wait around for film again. It had some killer lenses though, and THOSE I really miss! The entire thing was stolen: it was also choked to death with sand despite my best efforts to protect it, as I was living in the San Felipe Desert at the time, in Baja Mexico. I like to think the thief was QUITE annoyed by that, and hopefully it wouldn't work by then, at all! Serves her right - and yeah, I do know how it was, nor she was a Mexican I'll add. Nadya, thank you again for your comments on many of my images. Boy!, from living in the desert of Mexico to the Mississippi Palisades area of northern Illinois, you sure get around. I'm glad you have a camera with you to share all the sights you come across with the rest of us. And who knows ... maybe your thief was able to get the sand cleaned out of that camera and she's out there now somewhere posting photos on BP ... :-) #2733205

Nice Mike! I had started with 35mm and my favorite camera was my Nikon N65. I took it to our major camera dealer here in Spokane to have a small repair done. While I was waiting I was talking to a seasoned saleswoman (perhaps an owner) and I expressed my concerns as to the digital flood. She told me they would always have film cameras and a place for them. Six mos. later they stopped dealing in film cameras alltogether! I sold my Nikon and lenses to a photography student who was lacking for what might as well have been a smile and a thank you. Allen #2830002

Yeah, it took me some time to make the move also. I kept waiting to see if the digital quality was going to match film, but I'm very pleased now with all the fine cameras and excellent results that are so apparant on photo web sites like BP and others! #2831655
