Oak Alley

Description

This Antebellum Mississippi River Plantation, built in 1839,
is located in Vacherie LA.
Surrounding the the home are 28 Doric Columns, make of brick, each 8 feet in diameter.
Leading up the walk are 28 evenly spaced oak trees.
The trees were actually planted
on the property about 100 yrs before
the house was built.

Outstanding! What a green cathedral those trees have made! Great capture, Deb! I lived in La. shortly many years ago (near Shreveport) and was amazed at all those antebellum homes. we have very old homes here too (northern Illinois) and although some are massive they are of a different style. Either way I do love old structures! This one is a beauty, especially so with the avenue of trees. Nicely done! #2661391
