Two Front Teeth Missing

Uploaded: April 12, 2006

Description

That's how someone described the Manhattan skyline after September 11, and that's what it looked like to me the first time I saw the view - minus the Twin Towers - from the Staten Island ferry a few months ago. I thought the two birds gave it a nice touch of hope, since they are placed more or less where the buildings would be had they survived.

This is such a wonderful image on the skyline. It does look like missing teeth though, you are right!I was on the Staten Island ferry back in the early 70's and snapped a few images, never thinking that one day those 2 huge buildings would not be there. I had used an old P & S camera with black and white film.I found the negatives after 9/11 and printed several hand done prints that I numbered. I sold all of them, and then never made any more... #2637711
