Commonwealth Games #2

Uploaded: March 16, 2006

Description

From last night's opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. This is a view of the Yarra River, which flows past the main stadium (the MCG) and through the city. It was an amazing spectacle. There was a "fish" on the river for each of the 71 nations represented at the Games. The baton relay wound its way to the stadium via the "fish" barges. It was difficult to get a good vantage for photos, because there were over 100,000 people on the banks of the river!

Thank you, Susan, Kerby, Renee, Rakesh, Ray, Kate, Carla, Glenn, Jeff, Roger, Carolyn, Pat, Shelly and Helen! I'm really happy that the company responsible for these "fish" saw my images of them on my site at www.robynm.smugmug.com, and will be using some of my shots as gifts to their volunteers, and also will be posting a couple on their website. Very exciting for an amateur like me! :o) Robyn #2588682
