The Bridge and the Freeway ( Hawaii )

Uploaded: February 23, 2006 05:43:01

Description

This Panoramic shot was just taken 6 hours ago,and our objective is to experiment with the different lights that are found in the freeway, like lights from the buildings, cars and the light post with the exposure that we are going to use in the camera...simply what we call night time photography.

Quite a panorama! The lighting, clarity and detail are stunning. Not the usual image of Hawaii, for those of not there. I'm assuming this is Honolulu, hope I spelled that right. Nice image! #2456761

Beautiful shot. You took it at night but there is enough light in the area to illuminate the buildings. So many times I see night shots where you see office building windows but no outline or the building because the building has gone dark and blended with the sky. Yours have not so they look GREAT!

You guys have one of the best places to be if you're a photographer. You have desert, rainforest, urban, and city all in one place. You both have the talent to capture all these aspects very well. Keep it up we love your images. #2456884

Aloha Donna!

Yes indeed, my husband really have poured everything for this picture. It was really a great challenge for him to take a freeway and he has to carry his heavy tripod from our house to the bridge. But we are happy that we made it as a finalist. Finalist or not sharing such vista of Hawaii is already something Great.

Again, Thank you so much and we hope to hear from you in our future works.Wishing you all the BEST!

Great shot. It reminds me of one I did here in Portland, OR. (http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/big.php?photoID=1010408&catID=&style=&rowNumber=56&memberID=80048)

The only thing I really notice is that I can see in the image where it was stitched together. It looks to be a 5 shot merge? I think that is due to having my system setup and my monitor calibrated -- on a standard screen it is almost unnoticeable.

Again, great shot and a great location to take some WONDERFUL pictures! #3712539

Aloha Beau!

Thank you so much for your comment, it really means so much. My husband did more than 5 frames as I remembered and until now he tries his best to really improve his skills on it. It was a challenge for him to take the freeway with the running cars and the buildings. We also like to coomend your pictures in your beautiful Gallery, it is so VERSATILE! and such ashowcase of photos that are well COMPOSED, very VIBRANT and CRISP and most of all such work of Art!Again, thank you so much, the appreciation from people like you who have been in this field of photography makes us more inspired as well as to further enhance our skill. Hoping to hear from you in our future works! Wishing you all the BEST!

Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated as well!

As for the more multi-image stitch: the more images you use, the harder it is to get a realistic blend. This is especially true if there is any sort of motion involved -- that only compounds the complexity.

what I do in order to make sure that I get a good 'blend' is to feather the edge of each image, especially the sky. That helps tremendously. Also, before you are all done with the editing, add a LEVELS adjustment set to something like 0,1.10,130. This will allow you to see all the nasty spots hiding in the shadows. They are far easier to fix if you know they're there!

Good luck and keep the shots coming in! #3716823
