Babushka Checkerboard Orchid (for Emile)
Uploaded: January 29, 2006
f/4.8, 1/60s, Belle Isle Conservatory, Detroit.
This is for Emile. The nearly complete explanation of how I made it is located under the Frogbit tapestry picture a few days back. I will enter it under transformation and include the original photo.

I love this at first glance Mary but then you go back and you see the repetition of the coloured orchid getting bigger and bigger or smaller and smaller. Then you have to keep going back to check it out again like I just did and you realise that it is beautiful! #383125Shelly A. Van Camp January 30, 2006

Thank you again, Kate, and thank you Jenny! I apprecaite your kind comments. Do you really think I should enter the orchid original, Kate? I thought it was a little "off," maybe. #2356018Goshka G. January 30, 2006

Are you off your mind! Maybe it could have a touch more space at the top. Maybe the background colour doesn't exactly compliment it. What do you think is wrong with it? #2356238Mary N C. Taitt January 30, 2006
Well, yes, the background color doesn't complement it. The reason for the close framing was to exclude some intruding distracting stuff. It just seems rather ordinarly and lacking in pzzazz. (How do your spell pzzazz?) I don't know. I can't put my finger on it exactly. Obviously I liked it enough to mess with it. Maybe I should play with it a little less drastically.
