As birds preen, they ruffle up the feathers in the area they're focused on
Standing on ice, this adult and young Sandhill crane are preening in preparation for flying out to the feeding areas
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico

ISO 100 f/8.0 1/1000sec, Canon 70-300 DO IS @ 300mm
