Tree at Sunset

Uploaded: December 12, 2005

Description

f/19,1/45s, 100 mm (35 mm equiv 159 mm), ISO 1600, shot in raw. This is the first picture that I have shot in raw and worked on and submitted. I was impressed that using raw helped eliminate the graininess of pictures shot at ISO 1600. I tweaked the colors slightly, but I was trying to make them look more like what I really saw. Entering this is joy because one of my joys in life is simple scenes in nature. Sunsets. Trees.

Mary, what a stunning image. I love the soft colors and the magnificent tree. I too get joy out of simple pleasure, like the sunrise, sunset, etc. #358281

Very nice scene, well composed and lovely colors. Just my opinion but I would like to see a bit more contrast

A joy for me to view too Mary! I absolutely adore the soft colours and lone trees are my weekness along with seashores ~ well this looks like a seashore even if it is some huge great big pond. Now I have yet another reason to start using RAW!! #2178238

Thank you, Kate and Jeff. Well, it IS a LAKE, Kate, but you can't see across it! And BIG seagoing ships sail across it!!! But no salt and no salt-water flora and fauna. Except gulls!

The color, Jeff, is what drew me to this!

Thanks! :-) #2178299

What a Serene image and composition, Mary!! Raw is very good if you are sure you are not going to make much pictures with smaller capacity memory card. #2178465

Thank you, Goshka and Rakesh! Thank you.

I've been afraid to try raw, but I'm glad I did. Now I am taking some at both setting to compare the final results. #2178475

Fantastic image, Mary! This is just wonderful, a joy indeed! And your reason for using RAW is very clear here. Your teaching and defining skills outweigh mine by bunches! Just awesome!!! #2178797

Very beautiful, Mary! Once you start using RAW, there's almost no reason to go back. Only if you want smaller, lower resolution images. Great job here! #2178840

Mary, this is absolutely lovely. I love the combination of soft peaches and greens. It is almost like the southwest colors. I don't know a thing about a thing, so I can't go beyond what just appeals to me... and this one does! #2180035

Mary what a stunning image, very well presented, I bet after you shot in raw for a while you will never go back to j peg format. It does give you wonderful control in editing. Good job girl! #2181645

A stunning photograph Mary. The tree and the sunset go so well together...and this one has such character...it's like it's speaking without any words...Beautfiul! (I always use RAW..wouldn't know what to do without it:). #2182536
