Boab Tree

Description

Six years after its epic journey from the Kimberley to its home overlooking the Swan River, the giant boab, 'Gija Jumula', is still one of the major attractions during the annual Kings Park Festival.

The 750-year-old tree, a gift from the Gija people in the Kimberley, was transported over 3,200 km, from its original home in Telegraph Creek, Warmun to Perth back in 2008.
Since then it has been settling into its new home under the watchful care of the arborists at Kings Park.
The giant boab is native to the Kimberley region and can live more than 2000 years, so this particular tree is still young.
Taken in Kings Park last week.
Huge congrats to SF, Finalists and Winners well done

First of all it is a beautiful and awesome tree. Love the massive trunk and the way it spits up at the top. But I just loved and was so fascinated with the story behind it. Just so amazing. #11605402
