Space

Description

A 7-frame stitched pano of the nave of Washington National Cathedral. A thousand or so chairs were removed from the nave for a week in February, dramatically affecting the sense of space. That, along with the stained glass window in the center of the image, known as the Space Window (featuring a piece of moon rock from Apollo 11) suggested the title.

So glad y'all like it too! Michele -- that's a lot of pressure!!
I bought new stitching software (PTGui) after Photoshop's stitching tool did a pretty lousy job with these 7 images (and with another 11-frame stitch job)... PTGui put this together much faster than PS (less than 10 seconds, vs about 45 seconds in PS) and without any stitching errors (where PS resulted in several errors that were beyond fixable for me.) #11452208

Thank you very much, Janet -- as a volunteer tour guide at this cathedral, I'm delighted if one of my images of the cathedral inspires someone to visit! Please let me know if you make it to DC sometime! #11466956

Wow, Christopher. This is just amazing! Amazing work, and what a great opportunity to be able to shoot with the chairs removed. Absolutely stunning. Very well done. #11467327

Thank you so much, Pat! I'm tickled pink how well this (finally) turned out, and how startlingly different the space feels without those chairs! Can't wait for the next "Seeing Deeper" week of chair removal, Feb. 2017. #11467570
