Description

As I strolled my yard to find a good subject to photograph, I found several bees attracted to one of my rose bushes. What I found odd, was that most of the roses were not yet opened, however, the bees were climbing into the closed petals to get to the golden pollen. I snapped this image of one of the bees as it was entering the closed rose.

Exif: F Number: 5, Exposure Bias Value: -1.00, ExposureTime: 10/2500 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 150.00 mm, Model: NIKON D5100

I don't know how I missed this one...Don, you are indeed the King of Macros! The detail is just incredible on this busy fellow, the colors vibrant and "snappy". I've never seen bees do this either on a closed rose but guess all the pollen you can gather before the chill sets in is a priority! Sure is cold up Austin way - my perennial garden took a sad hit even tho the majority of the plants were covered....3 days of mid-20 nighttime temps sure took its toll. Hope your garden fared better! #10918245
