Description

The endangered Schauss Butterfly, the Schauss, unlike other butterflies (even swallowtails can stop midair, change direction, fly backward and even hover. This is due to its multiple wings, and one of the reasons its trying to be saved. there numbers are so small that they do egg counts in the keys. They are supposed to be limited to the Florida Keys, but found this one on Sanibel Island flying parallel to the wall of my house
