Description

Still tidal ponds on a clear day are rather unusual as the high pressure that brings clear skies almost always results in wind on the coast. I had to stop and take advantage of the opportunity. These are part of the mountains that surround Valdez, Alaska. 4 portrait photos stitched.

Thank you, Cindy :-) You CAN be here. It's only a plane ticket away. Just bring lots of warm clothing and bunches of memory or film, depending on what type of camera you're using! #2010444

I was wondering what you came up with when I saw you down there. It's interesting to see how two different eyes can see the same seen. I was down there about 30 minutes after you got there and spent about a while letting the sun and the clouds do there work. I uploaded several panoramas in my gallery. Keep up the good work!!

Hi Frank. A couple things are obvious after comparing this pano with yours. One is that my white balance was off and the other is that the dynamic range of the Canon sure makes a difference in the foreground light and color. I had a couple versions that were much more similar to yours for composition (with foreground grass) but the levels were so dark that I couldn't get decent colors so the grass just didn't look appealing. It must be getting real close to upgrade time :-) #2186998
