Description

This image was taken at Preston Castle in Ione, California. The facility is a California landmark sitting on 230 acres. It was built in 1894 with bricks made from the San Quentin prison facility. It was occupied by the School of Industry and is an example of Romanesque revival architecture. As you can see, it is in ruins, but has its own character and loveliness.

Preston was at one time a boys reform school as well. This building is a treasure trove of opportunities for a photographer. It is open to guided tours only but I understand they have a special tour for photographers. I have been wanting to but have never made it one of themeven though Ione is only an 1 1/2 hour drive from my home. This one is terrific. Love to see more of your captures Sheryl. #1527284
