I love this ...

i acidentally discovered in my wanders thru the net during the past weeks that they've actually named this type of photography ... and it's very popular at weddings right now ... photojournalistic ;) Imagine!

I'd just been call'n it "sitt'n on the outside shoot'n in" LOL

When life is happening ... that's when the story is caught.

Congrats!

have fun,
pam

Thanks for the comments.Although my son was not too thrilled when I posted it.
"Sitt'n on the outside shoot'n in" Great phrase! So much better than Photojournalistic.- Mike #2115358

Listen, This week has just proven to me again how very very very important family photographs are ... especially the priceless ones like this ... but what I am being hammered with this week is that when a member on either side of the camera disappears all of the photos become priceless.

in the mean time ... until one of you is separated from the other ... every photo is the basis of a story ...

so tell your son that he may not get it now ... but he'll just have to trust a lady with lots of gray hair ...

"I know why your dad posted this photo ... it's his excuse to tell a story ... that says "I am proud of my boy" ...

and some day you will look at this photo and look at anyone near you and say ... "this was the day that _____ and my dad ______ and I was so __(displeased)__ but I got over it ___(eventually)___ ... Now, i'm glad he took this photo" ...

and you will tell a story ... or two more after that.

And then you will remember that the lady with all the gray hair told you this a looooong time ago. And then you will run your fingers through your own hair that is threatening to turn gray ... and you will smile about being young and you will have a little more compassion for the young people around you ... who just don't get it at the moment."

mike ... hug your boy ... take all the pictures you can ... don't aggrivate him any more than necessary ... but umm still do what it takes to keep the stories.

and then ... hug him again just because I need you to.

talk to you later,

It's a great shot Mike ... a keeper ! #2245264

Mike Rubin January 02, 2006

Thanks Lyn, It seems that the best shots of my family are the candid ones.
I see some great portraits here, so it must be me, or my family ;) But when it comes to posed shots of my family, much improvement is needed. - Mike #2246420

Other than the Yankee's hat, I think it is a great shot. "Go Mariners"! #2246490

Mike Rubin January 16, 2006

Dennis,
When you live between New York and Boston, It is either the Yankees, or that OTHER team,( or any team that beats that OTHER team) It's all in fun. This shot was in Baltimore, I would rather see a game there than in NY. The whole Inner Harbor area of Baltimore is a great place to visit.
Thanks for the comments.- Mike #2293812

It's the moment and you have it! Great image Mike! #2577547

Allen, Thanks. Even though the image has flaws as a photograph, I look at it as one of my best, As you said "It's the moment" - Mike #2582201

Thanks Jen, FYI this shot along with the ones of Jeter were shot in Baltimore, It is a great stadium to see a game at.Durring batting practice you can get into the third row behind the dugout, Great spot for taking shots, It is also an easy stadium to get autographs at.- Mike #2623575

Fabulous shot Mike ... it's real! Very real! That's the best part of it. His expression of "shock and awe" was captured beautifully. I absolutely love this one! #3149617

Mike Rubin August 10, 2006

Thanks Crystal, I was lucky that I was not standing next to them, If I was, this shot would not have been possible.
It was a shame that the game was rained out, This was as batting practice ended. #3149698

Still love this shot! I think about it whenever I'm taking photos of my daughter's soccer game. Even if I don't think they'll turn out ... I just go for it ... just in case. #3420648

Thanks Crystal, Unfortunetly the Yankees are going to have a very long winter, Oh well, as Red Sox fans like to say.. "There is always next year" #3420789

Any shot of family or friend is never bad. When you are both older and look at that photo you will be able to relive the entire day in detail. Years ago we lost a dear friend and no one thought there were any pictures. I developed some film that had been in a drawer for months and there he was all smiles. Cherish every moment and don't go a day without saying 'I love you'.
What a great 'catch'! #3563354

Thanks Penny, everything you said si true. #3563479
