Can't wait to hear you describe this! Love the composition--the old log and rocks in the foreground, trees, blue sky...WOW! #1476304

Lisa, everything about the west was just absolutely amazing! If you remember the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", this was used in that movie. It is really interesting. The legend goes that seven little Laquota Indian girls were playing and kind of got separated from their parents and then a big grizzly bear started to chase them. Well, they found this big flat rock, and they prayed to the rock to get them away from this bear, and the rock grew taller. The grooves in the rock represent the claw marks from the bear that continued to try to catch the little girls, but he fell to the ground. They say that there are seven bright little stars that shine every night around Devil's Tower, and those little stars are the little Indian girls. The day that we were there, it was a crystal clear beautiful day! There were also rock climbers scaling that tower. James got a decent shot of them on his new camera. :) Thank you so much for such positive comments! #10240484
