Contemplation and Perambulation

Uploaded: November 01, 2011

Description

This beach candid was shot at the south end of Shelley Beach in Port Macquarie, Mid-north Coast, NSW, Australia. What struck me was that with all the activity going on out of frame, there was a woman taking a meditative time out while soaking up the afternoon sun.

Fuji S9600: RAW, f/3.9 @ 1/250sec, 29mm, ISO 80.
Lighroom 2.2 & Photoshop CS.

Exif: F Number: 3.9, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/250 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 80, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 29.00 mm, Model: FinePix S9600

The Making of 'Contemplation and Perambulation':

The eighth in a series of nineteen waterscape photographs chosen by the developers of Coast Apartments in my home town of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. The large black and white prints grace the walls of the foyers, gymnasium and lift on permanent display in the luxury complex.
The series gives the viewer a journey from the Hastings River, that runs through the town and down the coast to The Gap at Diamond Head Beach in the Crowdy Bay National Park.

Enjoy! #1419863

Hi Dennis;
I like the lighter feel to this image. Not only because of its tones and contrast but, because there is a certain cheerfulness that is evident. Beautiful image.

Welcome to Shelley Beach *Carla*!

Thank you ever so much for your delightful and insightful review. All most encouraging Ma'am.

I was very unsure on how this would translate into a B&W but the clients insisted. So I took a long time and great care in tweaking out all the best from the original to create this B&W.
I think the ocean mist makes this shot really.

It's very peaceful. I am liking the shadows in the foreground and the tiny dark figure way in the back. The eye just bounces around from one point to the next. Lovely. #9787738
