Description

Composite theme inspired by the great horse diaspora in the southwest in the late 1600's. Up to that time the plains indians were basically without horses. The great herds were liberated from the Spanish rancheros in New Mexico during the Pueblo uprising in 1680 which drove the Spanish out of New Mexico for the next 20 years. This lead to the rise of the Commanche Nation as the greatest plains horsemen and who effectively ended further Spanish hopes of North American expansion. Multiple layers and blending modes. Background hand painted using deep paint 3.0, horses via custom styles in PS7. The only photograph used is that of the sun which is actually a moon shot, layered and blended using the overlay mode.

Thanks so much Elisabeth!

This is an ongoing project for me as I am not yet satisfied that I have captured the idea right!

One good thing is that I learned a lot of new tricks. (smile)

Stay safe down there during this hurricane season.
