The Making of 'Backwater #6':

I was lining this shot up when I heard the soft sound of this man paddling his canoe closer and closer behind me. I shifted my angle slightly and waited until he appeared just where I wanted him and made the shot. I was a very happy camper this day.

The canoeist headed up what I call the 'Mystery Channel' and disappeared for a while as he explored the far reaches of the lake. On his return trip he stopped for a chat. We swapped email addresses as he was very interested to see the photogrpah I had made. It was the first image I processed that night and I slipped him a high resolution digital file for which he was extremely grateful.

It is a real buzz to bump into the occasional local at Lake Cathie, Mid-north Coast, NSW, Australia. They are a really good source of information and are a real friendly bunch.

Enjoy!
