Ants on my plants!
Uploaded: April 21, 2011
Contrary to popular lore, there is no symbiotic relationship between ants and peonies. Peonies do not need the ants to help them bloom but ants do enjoy the sweet nectar the buds exude.

Hi Courtenay,Beautiful macro my friend.Busy this morning,I have to run over to the east side of the county. And my county is 100 miles wide!!!!! #1370999Danny B. Head April 21, 2011
Great focus on the ant! My grandmother who passed away at age 94, loved peonies and had a garden full. She sold flowers (for almost nothing) from her garden to help make ends meet. Several years after she passed away, someone brought me peonies and told me they had bought them from her years ago and wanted me to have some. They grown each spring and are a nice reminder of her. #9361350Anita Hogue April 21, 2011

Super macro, Courtenay! You're right, the ants sure love those peonies! Somebody suggested carrying a can of compressed air to blow bugs off flowers you want to photograph, and I'm going to do just that when the peonies start blooming in our park! #9361463Jack Gaskin April 21, 2011
