This is one of my favorites Jeff. Nice division of image into thirds, superb leading line (road) into the image, very good POV and wonderful lighting. Makes one want to head down that road, through the narrow pass and on to the other side. A winner all the way. #1345019

Wow Jeff this is another awesome shot. dale said it all the compostion is very good. I like it as is....but if you want to play around with it I think I would mess with the sky alittle it could use a little pop

jim and I were trying to decide where we wanted to go...I think you have given us something to think about.

truely and awesome shot. #9169794

This IS an awesome shot Jeff, such stunning scenery out that way. I think the rocks on the right could be toned down just a bit since they are brighter than everything else. #9170178

Thanks all!

Dale - if you head down that road, just after you cross through the pass, make sure you look to your left. You will see Balance Rock - the rock that was in the last image I had posted.

Rita - Vegas is a good collection of photo ops. This place is a little more than an hour Northeast of town and worth the drive. Hoover Dam is about 45 minutes southeast and also worth the drive. Red Rock canyon is just west of town. If you are there in the summer, Mt Charleston has some fantastic scenery. Of course, there are a ton of opportunities along the strip but I prefer to head over to Freemont Street. There are a lot of photo ops and the people watching is better than you'll find most anywhere.

Tony - I'm not sure I agree with you on toning down the rocks any more than I have already. This was taken at as the sun was coming up. The road is running mostly North and South with the sun in the east (camera left), you would expect the light to be stronger on the rocks facing East. I'll play with it a bit though. You never know, I might like it better :o) #9170254

This is an absolutely stunning picture! I like it the way it is, makes me want to travel that road and see all the sights.
I don't think I would change anything, you can tell the sun was coming up by the way the light is hitting the rocks. #9171104

This is pretty amazing, Jeff! I can't think of a thing to make it better...someone mentioned making the sky pop a little more and if you do that I'd love to see it, but I'm happy to feast my eyes on this beautiful scene as is! #9171199

Jeff E Jensen January 18, 2011

Thanks Beth and Susan!

Here's a bit of a tweak on the sky. #9171261

Stephen Shoff January 18, 2011

Jeff -- any way you could coax just a little more color out of the clouds? Your edit brough out the blue in the open sky, but I think the sky need sjust a little more interest. #9171484

Jeff - it's all been said! Great shot, great composition, and I imagaine, a great place to actually be in! I'm not too crazy about Vegas itself, but if this is what I am going to see when I get there...then, yes, I want to go! #9174880

Peter W. Marks January 19, 2011

Can't add a thing Jeff but like Debbie just said I would sure like to be there. #9176643

Jeff E Jensen January 19, 2011

Thanks all! This is an amazing place and I highly reccomend the drive if you ever make it to Vegas.

I'm gonna have to say that the original is my preference. I'll enter it tonight and see what the judges think. #9178402
