Description

The Watchman in Zion National Park, Utah.
Every evening just before sunset the tripods start showing up on the bridge overlooking the sentinel mountain. Having many of those photos, and not being presented with the situation (clouds, light, snow..,) to make a better one, I moved downstream and closer to the subject to get something a bit different.

Wonderful light and composition, Marty. Beautiful landscape. Going to the Grand Canyon in June for a week. So looking forward to that. #1339191

This is a definite WOW. Since I'm not familiar with the place (something you have made me want to rectify), thus not knowing "where the tripods go up", you certainly picked yourself "the" spot to shoot from. Great shot. Me thinks we'll see this one again. #9129613

Perfect. Just perfect. The west facing Watchman bathed in glorious low and warm golden light...this would be a sensory meltdown for me to watch, I know it! Add all the colors, textures, the ever-changing light and shadow play and I'm telling you, Marty, it would take days for me to stop babbling on and on about the experience! Exactly like I always do after viewing and then commenting upon your most wonderful captures of the most wonderful Zion... :) #9129848

I love the idea that you did not let the situlation restrict your desire for a more better picture. So often its just a matter of us making a slight move to get that picture to be the most perfect we can. Sometimes we have to do alot of work to get that picture we want. The beauty of this place is so gorgeously captured by that extra effort you put forth. What a place to explore and hike, to see what nature has to offer. You put yourself in the perfect pov position, the composition and colors so beautiful. I especially love the light coming out of the right side and the affect the lighting has on the side of the mountain. Incredible beauty my friend. #9130700

As everyone has said, Marty, you done good, kid. The warm light on the peaks contrasts beautifully with the silky shadowed area beneath, and the stream leads us perfectly away with it. #9135399
