Gorgeous Carol! Looks like your trip to the mountains was good! #9074120

Hi Judy! Thanks so much for your kind comment! Yes our trip went quite nicely until the rain started. It began while we were still at this part of the Cades Cove Loop so I didn't get photos of the other cabins. We left and went to Pigeon Forge to eat, then Justin was insistent we go to the top of the mountains to Newfound Gap. But first we checked out a few stores where I bought some TN sorghum syrup (I haven't had any since we left AL where we visited the Amish in Larenceburg TN and bought some there). We also picked up some fresh ground corn meal (at the Old Mill) with jalepenos for making cornbread. We went up the mountain and stopped at Chimney Tops picnic area where the rain stopped enough for me to get some water shots. Then we went on to the top of the mountain. It was very foggy because of the rain and really beautiful! #9074197

A wonderful image Carol! Thank You for sharing and the info! Sounds like a remarkable lady! I hope to visit here soon! I missed going to the mountains this fall. I was in a bad car accident and I have not been able to drive now for 6 weeks. I have been enjoying your gallery! #9074203

Amanda, I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad accident and I hope you are doing much better. I have been in several bad accidents myself, and it is so scary! I hope you are on the mend and will soon be out shooting and driving again! Take care and thanks so much for your support!

Michelle, I truly appreciate your kind words! #9075222

Great photo Carol. I like your duplication better than the original.

Your tones and color are more natural and impressive.

Nice work. #9216542

Description

Taken in Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is a similar photo in the tour guide that you can purchase when you start the 11 mile loop road. I wanted to duplicate the photo as best I could. It is quite similar but I did not have my wide angle lens with me (it became lost on our AL trip) so it is a little different. Here is some info on the house:
Cades Cove's Becky Cable died in her Cades Cove home in 1940 at age ninety-four. At the time she and her house were located on Forge Creek Road but after her death the Great Smoky Mountain National Park service decided the Cable Mill area was a better location for the house. Becky Cable was a remarkable lady who lived a long productive life in the cove. She raised her brother's children after he and his wife became ill. She also ran a boarding house as well as her brother's farm. She raised gardens, cattle and food for herself, her family and her boarders.
