Anupam Pal May 26, 2019

Thank you very much everyone. This was a fun picture which took 2 hours to shoot and another 5 hours to put together. There were a 4 birds playing together. I am not an expert in bird identification. So its hard to tell any differences between them. But most of the shots were probably of the same bird, because among 4 there was one bird which seemed to be the bravest and would come closest to the camera. #92052

Lem Metro August 17, 2003

Without a doubt, July's best photograph, in my opinion. Perhaps some extra work in PS7, would have earned it the top spot. Background lines, that may only be evident at 72DPI, or a result of combining several frames, could have been cloned out or otherwise overcome. I think that minor flaw, may have been the difference. This is a brilliantly designed & executed photograph, Anupam. Congratulations! #170486

Anupam Pal August 18, 2003

Lem, thanks for your comments. I very much appreciate it. I agree the edges of the seams could have been cloned and mixed better. This is one of the earlier versions of this image, and I was pretty happy that I could put it together. I didn't check the background carefully at that time. I have fixed it later. But by that time I had already submitted it here.

Comments like yours are very helpful, because it helps the photographer to improve. Thanks. #171176

Great shot. It really caught my eye.

I'm sure you love your Nikon toy. From the sharpness and depth of field, I assume you are using Nikon lens as well? What were your settings for the shots?

Tom #188924

Anupam Pal September 05, 2003

Yep, I love my D100, especially when using with a long lens because of the 1.5x crop factor. I used Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 AFD lens for this one. Exposure was f4 at 1/2000s at ISO 400. Thanks for your comment. #189062
