Well, not my best, but feel like a rank amateur after such a long time away from my camera. Having huge memory gaps about everything, from using my camera to uploading images to BP! BUT, I am sure everyone was sick to death of the buffalo...so here it is for better or worse! #1323465

Joan, I really like this shot. The colors are very striking. Aside from the bird being soft (probably from it's moving) I don't see anything wrong. :) #9011159

Thanks Teresa... and yes, forgot to mention... these guys are really tiny and run like the dickens! Upped my lens speed but not enough obviously! #9011191

Jeff E Jensen November 02, 2010

I like the shadow you captured, it really ads to the image. #9011260

Not bad Joan. These little guys are a tough capture - I know from experience. Love the isolation you achieved on this shot and the shadow as Jeff mentioned is perfect.

Other than the very slight motion blur which is not that bad and we have to live with, a bit of highlight reduction might bring out a few more details. It has to be fairly light though or you will get artifacts. #9011351

You did a good job of catching this fast little critter Joan. The movement in his feet adds to the scene as well as the shadow. You can perk him up a bit with selective sharpening though if you're not too aggressive.

I've recently had great success with motion blur subjects that were way off, by using a third party software called Focus Magic. #9011395

I agree with what has been said already, think you did the best you could with such a quick subject and I think the tweaks will help.. #9011816

Debbie E. Payne November 03, 2010

Yes, Joan. Go with the tweaks and he'll be great. He is awfully cute. It brings to mind Alice in Wonderland with the "I'm late, I'm late ...for a very important date!" what with him skittering along the shoreline. #9012016

I really like the capture and that shadow really is a nice addition to this phast and phurious pheathered phriend! LOL The colors are very nice. They give me that at the seashore feeling. Dale had sent me a link to that software awhile back, but I haven't had a chance to use it because most of what I've been shooting lately are models that stay still. Make a few adjustments, but like others have said be gentle with them and repost. Can't wait to see! :~) #9012144

Debbie, everytime I see these little guys I sing that song (to myself)

Joan I think you did a very good job capturing this guy. I too like the movement in his feet. #9012762

what a great capture consider how fast they run and being a little rusty...LOL you did a great job love the shadow also. looking forward to seeing the highligt reduction. these little guys get photograph all the time but I always enjoy images of them. #9015876

On a mission! I like this composition, clear of all distractions and can ignore the blurs- he's in a hurry. #9016170

Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate your comments, and will definitely try the suggestions. HOWEVER, computer went on the fritz, having serious blue screen problems, and in addition overheating problems, which are now worse due to cleaning the fan... apparently, got rid of the heat sync gunk which was not dirt, but rather necessary for making the fan WORK. Need to get into brownsville tomorrow to get some. Then onto the rest of the issues. SO... will get back to the adjustments later, and repost them. Sheesh if not one thing its another. Using my laptop, which I reformatted awhile back so it has zero photo-editing software on it.

Impressive capture of a very quick little piper! I've never been able to get one of these..nicely done...hope your computer is up nad thriving again soon :) #9018396

Kathleen Nealon November 07, 2010

Sorry it's taken so long. I like the fact that you at least try to capture shots of quick moving targets. There's a lovely color palette at work in this image and and good isolation as has already been stated.

Hope your computer and other issues get resolved soon #9019675

Stephen Shoff November 07, 2010

I missed this when it popped in. Like it very much. I don't even think the motion blur detracts. It is entirely within context. #9019733
