Frances Slocum State Park, PA
This photos was taken at about the same time Monnie Ryan's post from today was taken. She turned left and I knelt right. A left turn was the way to go; way to go, Monnie. I still have rock dimples on my knees.
f/9, 1/40, 24-105mm at 24mm, ISO 100, handheld (without my knee pads)

Another excellent use of foreground from you, Marty. You've let us see the plants and pebbles clearly, and of course that lets us empathize about your rock dimples, but it also beautifully leads us in to the far vistas behind. #1312541Jack Ryan September 28, 2010
And I stood back and watched you both get your chosen shots. In hindsight, I wish I had taken a shot of the two of "in action"...but I didn't. Meanwhile, you got an excellent image (as did Monnie...)...nicely composed with excellent color and clarity. Beautiful park...hope we can get there again someday soon. #8935321Monnie Ryan September 28, 2010
The only reason I didn't run to get my macro lens to immortalize your dimples is that you were wearing jeans and they didn't show up -- so now I'm bummed, Marty! Talk about a missed photo opp! That said, I love this capture -- wonderful composition and clarity that showcase the diversity of this beautiful park! #8935409Tammy M. Anderson September 28, 2010
Another beauty from your beautiful PA park, Marty. Great composition. I loved Monnie too. #8935441Carol L. Fowler September 28, 2010
Aside from the rock dimples (I am still trying to rid my mind of that vision) Looks like you are getting some fall colors across the lake! #8935505Ron McEwan September 28, 2010
LOL Marty, I am still pealing scabs for some of my climbing tricks to Montana and Canada. Both you and Monnie nailed your early fall shots perfectly. Looks like you guys may be about three weeks ahead of us. #8935513Jeff Robinson September 28, 2010
If we are not getting our knee's dirty and a little banged up then we are not trying hard enough! Great depth, pov and capture Marty - Terrific effort too!! Jeff #8935580Ellen Hodges September 28, 2010

Ho! So the truth prevails!!! And here I had in my mind a vision of you bravely enduring supreme pain and discomfort to bring us such a wonderful capture of your beloved park...Actually, getting down into the position you did looks like pain enough to me! Excellent capture, Marty - this is a place I would someday like to wander thru - looking forward to some Fall captures of this beautiful area...hint, hint... #8936880Julianne Bradford September 29, 2010
I'm sure your dimpled knees are cute Marty. This wonderful pov was certainly worth it..love the light on the water too :-) #8937019Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna September 29, 2010
Just BEAUTIFUL, Marty! Wonderful POV that you couldn't have gotten if you hadn't knelt on your dimpled knees! LOLMarty Straub September 30, 2010
Ok. Ok. Cut it out. Rock dimples shouldn't be confused with cute little pudgy kid's dimpled knees. You guys are great fun. #8938878frank w. degenhardt October 01, 2010
Marty- WEll you both did a fantastic job and even thhough you will always be dimpled knee, you at least got this beautiful picture. Such a gorgeous scene. I love the depth, the framing used, the beauty of the details and those colors. Way worth the effort my friend.Marcel J. Fernandez October 01, 2010
No pain, no gain, even in photography. Beautiful scenic capture with nice foreground interest. #8941134Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
