Breakfast Anyone?

Description

Taken in a Louisiana swamp. This was not a big gator--maybe about four feet. Because of the cold spring, I was told the big ones mostly hadn't come out of hibernation yet. At least, I didn't see any of the monster size ones. That's duckweed hanging from his mouth and is what gives the water surface the green color.

Excellent capture of the textures and teeth, Mitch. He looks like he's growing right out of the log, and the duckweed has also become part of HIS color. Great photo, and four feet is big enough. #8751065

Thanks everyone. It was just great to see this in the wild. It makes me so very sad now to think of what is happening to the Gulf coast. #8759957

Love this image Mitch!!! I remember after only about a week in FL, there was a cop sitting in the middle of a 3 lane boulevard at night. His car was actually stuck on top of a huge gator, that was going from one side of the lake over the road to the other side. #8813577

Thanks, Amanda. Yes, I can believe that about Florida. Must have been a wild scene. When we lived there, we had "our own" gator in a little lake right next to our house. #8843519
