I love the rich, warm colors and the texture on the wall. Even the dead rose adds to the overall effect, adding it's own texture into the mix. The shadow on the wall resembles some poor old dejected soul hanging their head. Good job Protacio. Take care. Karen #1597703

Mmmm okay ... I didn't post on this when you first put it up ... because I couldn't figure out what it was about it ...

but today ... I saw your new pix of the week at www.pserna.com and first I must say ... I really, really love the drama of the crop you chose. And the story is excellent!!!

but the more I looked at it the more I thought mmmm I think that's the something about it ... .... just exactly how did you compose that wonderful shadow?

When I saw the flower and her body expression, I first considered a profile to show how she was looking down, but I decided to leave that to the shadow. There was a lamp on my left side. It is a contemporary lamp, made of white acrylic...it is an art work by itself...but it worked wonderfuly as a soft light source and since the bulb is located at a low level the shadow is projected a bit upward.

The corner worked perfectly since there are three different textures involved and the arrangement gives dimension to the picture.

What I realized yesterday is that the shine on the bottle indicates that the shadow should be appearing more behind the bottle ... approximately in the corner ... instead of beside it. Of course I knew that if you had PS'd this in some way you would have said so ...

so then I started wondering: well if the shine is from a flash or a window, then there would have had to be a secondary light source that was overriding the shadow that should be in the corner.

... mmm... but are you telling me that you achieved this "confusing" alignment of the shadow with one light source and a by standing at a different angle from the light?

and did anyone think you'd lost a few marbles? (aka did anyone think you were a few sandwiches short of a complete picnic lunch? ... mmm ... did anyone think you had lost your sanity?)

well...that was the only light available...and a small restroom window above to the left, but that sure works as a fill light.

I will attach a different shot so you can see it from a not so different angle since there wasn't much space available.

About the marbles...hehehe...yeah...is not common to see a guy coming out of the restroom with a tripod, DSLR and a light meter hanging from his neck...so whatever they thought...they might be right.
