Straight Down the Barrel

Uploaded: June 03, 2010

Description

This is a mature Bald Eagle. I replaced the busy background with black. To hear the Eagle scream was a little un-nearving.
The Center for Birds of Prey rescues birds that have been injured and can generally be released back into the wild, however, this eagle had a broken foot and could not survive out in the wild. I was fortunate enough to shoot him outdoors early morning.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/1250 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 300.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 7D

Excellant Janet, I swear I found myself moving back in my chair when I opened the full sized image. Not a bird to be messed with! I am almost disappointed that this was shot in a bird sanctuary, I had visions of you climbing up a cliff face and suddenly being confronted with this!

I can understand that capturing a portrait of this screaming eagle was an unnerving experience, but your positioning is perfect. Your image is sharp with wonderful clarity, good color and tonality, and changing the background is well done!

This is a well deserved POTD and silver or gold win on this, as well. Terrific capture, Janet! This is very impressive!!!
