Great shot Sherry! Great color and detail. You probably had to shoot quickly before this one got away: ) #1265828

I was up on a boardwalk with a zoom... you cant get near these sliders if you are on their level... they are WAY tooo fast! Thanks for the comment David... I take it you have chased these guys yourself #8591752

I've never had the opportunity to chase one, Sherry. I actually was curious and looked them up on the internet. The best time to photograph them is in the fall/winter when they brumate (similar to hibernate). Of course you will need a waterproof camera since they spend this time underwater only occasionally rising for food or water. Too much info I know, but where else am I going to share it: ) Again, nice shot Sherry! #8593896

Thanks for the info David... they dont "brumate" long here since we really do have pretty mild winters... I see them in the creeks and lakes around here... #8594045

What a pretty baby! I hope he survives. I saw a show once on little turtles and most of them don't make it! :( Maybe this breed does since they are so QUICK?

Not to worry Laura... this guy lives at the Zoo... well taken care of and not so little either... #8815793
