Hanging On

Uploaded: April 29, 2010

Description

Out helping a friend enjoy his new camera we came upon a 70-foot waterfall (name, if any, unknown). This tree was at the very top. Because of the darkness surrrounding it, the only way to expose the details was a 5-exposure HDR.

Oh, I love the tenacity! Hanging on for dear life itself, not giving up and (hopefully) digging those gnarly roots in deep to what little foothold it can find...Fantastic HDR work, Marty - I think EVERY detail was brought out of those shadows (including that little patch of moss tangled in the roots)...Excellent work and a marvelous speaking-volumes-for-not-giving-up find!! #8578457

Now what can I say, that hasn't already been said my friend. This is one exception nature shot for sure, well done and I see where HDR has its place, it works when nothing else will. Great work. #8578721

Beautiful image, Marty!! Fantastic work here with the HDR!! I've tried PS's HDR several times and never been satisfied with it and usually just go with the normal image. Which program do you use? I hear Photomatix is a good one... #8586382

Thanks everyone. Yes, Denny, Photomatix is much better than PS to start. After it tonemaps and blends the images I still open it in PS Camera Raw (Bridge) where I try to erase the ill effects of HDR. Photomatix is just the blending tool. #8586556
