About Maria Costa
In my family photographs were highly valued. They were a way of telling family history. In fact I have photographs that go back to 1875. So with that background, I purchased my first camera at 6 years old---a box camera that was held at waist level. By 16 I had graduated to a Kodak Brownie. By 21 I had my first SLR, a no name completely manual camera that required the "idiot sheet" to gauge aperture and shutter speed. Then came the Konica, the Nikkormat, the Nikon F100, the Olympus 300 , Olympus 520 and now the Nikon 5200.
I continue to photograph because it forces me to slow down and "smell the flowers" so to speak. I will continue to photograph if for no other reason than it places me in the moment, gives me a creative outlet, and helps me to create ART. And so it is.
