About Larry J. Citra
I live on a ranch in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada with my wife Becky and daughter Meghan. We share it with five horses, a dog (Robyn) and a cat (Cookie). We do a lot of riding, hiking, skiing and snowshoeing and like to spend as much time outdoors as possible. We also enjoy reading and my wife Becky is a published author of children's books and a school teacher. My daughter Meghan enjoys writing also and hopes to get published herself one day.
I got interested in photography at 14 years of age when my dad lent me his twin lens reflex camera loaded with black-and-white roll film (I got a roll a month in lieu of an allowance) and have been hooked ever since. I purchased my first 35mm SLR when I was 18 years old and my first digital about ten years ago. Although I still shoot a little film the majority of my work is with digital. I truly believe digital to be the best thing that's ever happened to photography. It has allowed so many people to take up this wonderful pursuit.
Today my gear consists of a Nikon D3 & D2x with various zoom and fixed lenses
I enjoy close-up work and usually use a Nikon macro lens or Nikon close-up diopter's and occasionally a bellows unit or extension tubes. I almost always use a tripod (Manfrotto/Bogen) except when using a flash for macro photography.
I use a Nikon scanner to scan negatives and slides and print my images on an Epson 2200 printer (soon to be upgraded). Film cameras include Minolta Maxxum 9000 and a Minolta X – 700 with various lenses.
