The Photographer's Photo

Welcome to the all new, much improved, faster Forum. I know that you, like me, have anticipated the reestablishment of the Forum so that we photography lovers can communicate to one another. So let's jump in and give it a try.

I will start us out with a question/blog that we all can participate in:
Do you have a photo that you have taken that is extra special to you? It doesn't have to be "photo technically perfect. It doesn't have to be a BP Contest photo. It may be a family photo, one that has a meaningful memory to you, or one that you find just a photo that you like to return to and view over and over again. It may be your first entry here in BP, or maybe your first win in the contest. What ever, please post it here and share what it is that makes it special to you.

Come join the Forum!

I will start us of with my photo that was taken back in 1977 "Brick"

Errick

This is the photo that started my deep love for photography. At it's inception, I was in my last year of college, Knox College, double majoring in chemistry and biology. My faculty adviser meet with me with concern. Although I had an overabundance in completed class work in the math and sciences, I could not graduate unless i completed some class in the fine arts. Art!!! I had very seldom even been on that side of the campus. So what was my choice? Photography... at least it had a little bit to do with chemistry. This was a photo that i submitted for a class project. "Use the mechanics of the camera learned in class with our learned traits of composition. Take a photo of someplace on campus, develop, process, and mount to be viewed by all of the students". The last part scared me the most, all of those Fine Art Students!!! Well Friday came and when we walked into class my photo "Brick" was front and center and half of the class time was dedicated to discussing it. I

I thought that it was a neat photo but the instructor went nuts over it!!????!!?! Well, that got me hooked on photography. A side note, The photo was taken of Old Davis Hall. The subject, a forgotten turn of the century chemistry lab.

Hi Errick -- how'd you get to post in the forum, to start with? I can't seem to get to the forums via "Community", yet with the link you shared (to this post) I was able to get here and reply...

Jim sent me a test link. I responded to it. I do not think that Forum is totally free of bugs yet. I sen Jim back some problems that occurred but a looks like things are progressing.

I love the color on the eagle Bob. I use to go up the Great River Road North of Alton, Illinois, to get shots of eagles. I haven't been for a few yeas. You have me motivated.
