This is a very beguiling image I assume that the rectangular areas are the windows of a building and that they are reflecting the sky above. The strange thing is where the edge of the windows meet the clouds it looks almost as though the sky and cloud patterns continue right through it as if transparent. I like it and find it fascinating however it is done.

This shot has a strong abstract quality, Iva. Love the PS work, it was worth it.

Nice illustration but it ceased to be a real photograph the minute any element that was not there at the moment of exposure was altered.

We used to say if a photo is no good, put a nice frame around it.

I guess that should now be changed to manipulate the heck out of it.

Time to change the title of photographer to Phototsohopper, I guess.

Feel free to chastise me for not wanting to be part of the fake photo generation.

What's next? Taking great photos from the past and manipulating them to call your own?

Try seeing an image and using it as it comes from the camera.

I'm not just talking about this image, but a mojority of images on this and other such "photography" sites.

Have fun and I expect I'll be hearing from someone.

BF

As an illustration, it deserves my admiration.

This is one of the very few images I have seen in this forum where all the time invested in PS returned something good.

But I have to agree with Bob, I don't like it as much as an straight picture.

I love it and find it to be a very creative idea, well-executed. True, it is not a photograph, but I don't think anyone should discredit you because it still takes a lot of skill, albiet a different type, to pull off something like this. Iva, congrats on your well-deserved finalist.

I believe that this kind of image doesn't just happen...it takes much skill. I know how difficult it is to work and rework an image to get this effect and it is a wonderful image. I am so happy it made finals, Iva. Congratulations.

Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. My sister, an artist of the painting variety, claims that those of us who are into photography are "failed artists" because we can't create our own works, and depend on what others have already done. We simply give it a different angle and transfer it to film (or digitize the image). I disagree with her, much as I disagree with the nay sayers here.

You've been creative. You've not done what a million others have and you have taken an image that could have been anyone's and made it entirely your own. Bravo for being different. The creation is beautiful. Photograph? No. Art? Most definitely.

This is to Bob F. You know Bob, time marches on, progress makes things easier, more beautiful and with the digital, well, up to June of this year I was like, you, I liked my Hassy, I liked my Nikon's, and I have packs of 35mm and 120 in the freezer. Must admit have not use one roll since. I was given an Nikon E4300 at the end of May. Bob try one, and I think you will say, hey I see the light. But if you dont, maybe you still have your dark glasses on, (this is only joking Bob) You can be a purist, Ansel was, then he tried the Hassy, colour and presto. Just expressing my awe of the digital age, and speaking of age Bob I'm 73. We live in a wonderful time.
