Agree with Carolyn!! Good luck with this! #9114

Good shot! I tried this and it is so difficult to get the plane of min. DOF focused to the sharpest. I think the water drops need to be sharper, as that is the main subject. Make sure your diopter is right on, check it before you shoot something like this. #9126

It also helps the image to clone out the bits of dirt on the flower. Keep up the good work! #9127

It is hard to display this at 72dpi. One "trick" Due to the fact that my back yard is ALL hillside, I have the advantage of being able to stand up or kneel, rather than "belly out," when shooting.
My camera does not have a diopter, but I find every year that my eyes have a harder and harder time focussing!
I used a 50mm lens with two rings for this picture.
Thanks,

this is a beautiful photo, I have been working on still life photos similar to this but they havent got this good yet. what apeture, shutter speed, film, and if any filters did you use for this photo. was this natural light #9980

John Snell July 23, 2002

I don't remember all the details, but my best guess, since it is my regular gear, is that I used an 85mm with one or two extension rings, Velvia film, and definitely all natural light. No filter.
Thanks,

John:

I like your shot. I have done some macro myself, but most have turned out by luck alone.

I had to smile about your comment regarding focus becoming harder every year. I now have tri-focals and find focus next to impossible...glasses don't fit view finder, too high, to low, yadda, yadda, yadda. Any more, I either have to resort to auto focus or ask my 10 year old to check my focus on set ups. Isn't old age grand? (smile) #10023
